ABOUT THE LIBRARY

Dwelling on new digital initiatives the AKS University Library Resource Centers cater to the academic interests and research needs of the students and faculty members of the University. There are Three Libraries offering Under Graduate, Post Graduate, Executive Diploma programme in varied branches of human knowledge. Each Institute has a full-fledged Library Resource Centre (LRC).

The Library acts as a key resource and learning center of the University to meet the information needs of more than 7,000 users. It plays a vital role in enhancing the academic and research growth and overall development of the University.

Open-access (OA) literature is free, digital, and available to anyone online. An open-access document has limited copyright and licensing restrictions which means anyone, anywhere, with access to the Internet may read, download, copy, and distribute that information. As with any scholarly article traditional or otherwise authors of an open-access article should be properly acknowledged and cited. Here we have come-up with an initiative to provide subject wise links of Open Access materials that will enable easy and quick access for literature search.

LIBRARY RULES AKS UNIVERSITY
  • Students/users should use the ID card for access.
  • Bags, handbags, parcels, aprons, or other receptacles are not allowed inside the library. The library accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal belongings
  • A limited conversation/discussion is permitted only in the group study area/ silence should be maintained at all times in other areas and mobile phones should be kept on silent mode.
  • Loss or damage to library books/ material/articles on loan to a user should be reported immediately. The user must pay the cost of replacing a lost or seriously damaged book/article; in addition, he/she has to pay the fine.
  • Copyright law should be strictly observed by all library users when making copies of library materials/books
  • Computers are for educational use only. The use of the Internet in the library is for reference work. Accessing unauthorized sites, playing games, chatting, etc. are strictly prohibited.
  • Reference Books, Encyclopedias, Hand Books, Dictionaries, Periodicals, Student Project Report, Dissertations, Theses, and Back Volumes will not be issued and they are only for reference
  • Members/users/students before leaving the counter must satisfy themselves whether the books, they intend to borrow, are in good condition and any damage/marking should be immediately reported to the Librarian failing which the user/ members/students to whom the book is to be issued will be held responsible.
  • Members/users/students are advised to return/renew the books on or before the due date marked on the book
  • A borrowed book should be returned on the due date, failing which a penalty of Rs.5/- will be collected as an overdue charge per day.
  • Loss of books, if any, should be reported to the library immediately in writing and it should be replaced with a new copy of the same along with a levy of overdue charges if any.
  • In case, the borrower is unable to replace the books that are lost, he will be levied a penalty three times of the cost of the book plus overdue charges, if any.
  • Books will not be issued to members/users/students on the ID card of others.
  • Personal books, files, and other articles (except a small notebook or loose sheets of paper) are not allowed inside the library. Members/users/students have to deposit their personal belongings at the Property Counter near the entrance.
  • Misbehavior in the library will lead to cancellation of membership and also lead to serious disciplinary action.
  • Membership Cards are not transferable. Books will not be issued to students on the Membership Card of staff members.
  • The Library may accept donations of manuscripts, books, periodicals, etc. from the donors. Such donations once accepted will become the absolute property of the University.
  • Books will be issued only for 15 days after 15 days students can reissue only for one time.
INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Resources (Books & Articles) that are not available in AKS University libraries may be obtained using our Inter-Library Loans Service. This service can be used for getting books and photocopies of journal articles. This service is available to faculty members and also to students of AKS University. For making an ILL Request user has to check the OPAC first to confirm that the resource you wants is not available in the library collection.

 

To make an ILL Request, one must complete the DELNET ILL Request Form, which is available to Library Staff. Click here to Download the Form and forward it to the librarian through the Head of your Department.

The requests usually will be sent to the Developing Library Network (DELNET), New Delhi

BOOK-BANK: AKS University Library provides a Book Bank facility to the students of B.Tech. Engineering, B.Tech. Agri., Mining, B.Sc. Agri, Pharmacy, and All Diploma The main aim of this service is to help the needy meritorious students.

AKS Libraries with an aim to provide easy access to the right information at the right time to all its users offer a package of high quality, user-focused services to support the learning & teaching; research and development activities of students, faculty, and staff members.

  • CIRCULATION: AKS University Libraries provides circulation (Issue/Return of Library Materials) facility to its Users. Students can issue library books for certain periods as per the rules of the respective library of AKS University

  • REFERENCE: Reference Service helps users to make full use of library resources and services. It provides necessary assistance to users in locating information or document of their choice. Users of AKS University refer these reference materials within the premises of the library as reference materials are not loaned to the users.

  • READING FACILITY/REPROGRAPHY: The library provides a reading and reprographic facility to the user of AKS University. These are the basic and important service of any kind of library.

  • Reading facility: All libraries of AKS University provide reading facility to the users of AKS University within library premises and also available a separate reading room.

  • Library Membership: All students, faculty members, and staffs of the AKS University are members of the library.

AKS University, Satna offers courses for master's Degree in Yoga Therapy Program and Personality Development. Department of Mining Engineering

 

Mining Engineering deals with the extraction of minerals safely by adopting scientific methods. While the conventional method was to extract coal or non-coal minerals from depth, technological changes have helped extract from opencast mines.  Today, over 95 percent of Indian coal is from opencast mines. The history of mining dates back to the Harappan civilization, and today digital technologies to mine from greater depths safely and efficiently. Safety is one of the primary objectives of teaching mining engineers who hold statutory positions to mine.

Mining engineering broadly covers various safety aspects of mining. It covers all technical and statutory aspects related to mine ventilation, mine planning and economics, mining machinery selection and operation, rock mechanics, design of opencast mines, mine surveying, computer applications, rock fragmentation, processing of blasted ore, sustainable mining methods, etc. The course is designed as per provision of Mines Act 1952 and various rules made under that.

After one year training in mines, degree and diploma students apply for Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS. There are numerous career options available for the students in private and government sector after completing B Tech and Diploma in Mining Engineering namely:

Placement Assistance

Our students are working in Central/State government services and in several private/ government sector companies, research institutions, etc. in India. Some of the renowned companies are listed below:

Coal India subsidiaries (NCL, ECL, BCCL, CCL, SECL, MCL, WCL), CIMFIR, NTPC, Nevyeli Lignite, Singereni Telangana, JSW, JSPL, JPL, JMS, Ultratech Cement, Birla Corporation (Coal and Limestone mines), Prism Cement, Vedanta, Tata Steel, Shree Cement, Adani, Sasan Coal, HINDALCO Industries Ltd, Mine Developers and Operators (of Coal Companies, Non-Coal companies) etc.

 

GATE

Many students of Mining Department have cleared GATE with a good score. All the students who have cleared GATE got job in government sector with good pay scale. So far, more than 50 students got job in PSUs after clearing GATE. 

In 2023, 15 students of B Tech, Mining Engineering, cleared GATE with good score.

 

INDUSTRY TIE-UPS

AKS University is deeply involved in scientific research, particularly in the fields of rock blasting, mine safety, strata control, and slope stability. Their work ensures compliance with various regulatory bodies such as the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), the Ministry of Mines (IBM), the National Green Tribunal, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). Additionally, the university undertakes initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity.

 

RECENT EVENTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Almost every year, we arrange seminars in all parts of the country where eminent scientists and mining engineers are invited to present their papers. Several seminars on Mining have been organized since 2013 at Satna, Khajuraho, Ranchi, Asansol, Hospet, Bhubaneswar; New Delhi 2022: Mining Youth Conclave-New Delhi (Supported by Ministry of Coal, Govt. of India), AKS University Satna: Coal Expo, Mining Expo- 2023 and 2024 were held with active support on Ministry of Coal, PSUs and many more private sector Companies. Over 40 stalls displayed their products, mining practices, etc. The footfall in 2024 event was over 5000 people.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

 

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering and is called an evergreen branch because of the steady demand for mechanical engineers in industry.

Almost all the inventions of the ancient and modern eras are direct contributions of Mechanical Engineering. The branch caters to Automobiles, Railways, Aviation, Thermal Power Plants, Hydro Power Plants, Textiles, Petroleum, Chemicals, and a variety of other industries. It involves the design, study, development, and construction of nearly all physical devices and systems.

The Department along with its strong faculties provides an academic platform of international repute that is dedicated to train and build educated minds. We believe that besides learning from books and examples, learning practically help to achieve soundness of knowledge. With this view, the department operates with a prerogative of combining classroom teaching with the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for all the subjects. Complete attention is paid towards the exercise of prudence and care in the management of resources to render basic and specialized engineering education necessary to keep pace with the present and emerging requirements of the society.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, AKS University, Satna runs Diploma, undergraduate and post-graduate programs in the form of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, B. Tech. and M. Tech.( Production, Industrial Engineering, Renewable energy, Thermal, Design ) along with Doctoral with its potent workforce of fifteen faculty members.

The Department promotes students to participate in competitions related to technology and innovation. Our undergraduate students are involved in research works on the development of several product prototypes. Noteworthy attempts include Development of electric arc machine, Ecart, Manufacturing of composites by waste plastic.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

The new B. Tech (EE) curriculum focuses on broad-based training to provide flexibility in career choices and nurture lifelong learning. It strikes a balance between breadth and depth to provide a solid foundation in physical sciences and broad coverage of non-technical areas on one hand, and comprehensive training in Electrical and Electronics Engineering on the other. In particular, the courses in Humanities, Social Sciences, Business and Management together with other essential courses in Communication Skills, contribute about 20% of the overall curriculum. It emphasis on:

  • To increase the employment avenues for the students, the program is structured such that the core subjects offered are sufficient for higher studies.
  • Employment in the core sectors such as companies in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity and other companies dealing with power components and systems.

RACE (Recent Advances in Civil Engineering)

This flagship annual technical seminar organized by the department has been a great success. Its first event was launched in 2015. The theme of the RACE 2015 (25th September to 26th September) was on various advance technologies and researches in civil engineering to which around 200 delegates attended.

RACE 2016 held during (24th September to 25th September) was attended by 100 plus delegates where technical papers on the main theme Smart Cities: Concept, Problem and Remedies were deliberated. Since 2015, the Department of Civil Engineering has been continuously participating/ organizing RACE.

M.Sc.  (Mathematics) 

Specialization: Linear Algebra, Riemannian Geometry, Fluid Mechanics, Discrete Mathematics, Topology, Integral Equation

 2 Years B.Sc. in (Mathematics/Computer Science) with minimum 50% marks in the UG program.

Ph.D. (Mathematics)

Area of Research: Cosmology /Fluid Mechanics

 3 Years M.Sc. in Mathematics with minimum 50% marks in PG program

The regular route for a student is a three-year B.Sc. course followed by a two-year M.Sc. program in Mathematics, after which she or he could join a doctoral program in a recognized university or research institution like TIFR in Mumbai, I M.Sc. in Chennai, HRI in Allahabad.
